Caretaking at Kentucky Camp
The Coronado National Forest is seeking friendly and independent volunteer caretakers to staff the Kentucky Camp Historic Site. To this
end, the Forest uses the clearing house known as
PIT, or Passport in Time, to fill such staff positions. PIT is a not-for-profit organization that links interested individuals
to Forest Service projects. Kentucky Camp caretaking assignments last for one month, and are generally available throught the year.
After acceptance by PIT, you will be notified by the local Forest Service personnel for details. Upon arrival at the Kentucky Camp site,
caretakers will meet with a Forest Service Representative for general orientation and any specific needs.
Generally, the PIT volunteer will greet the public and answer questions, perform maintenance (e.g., adobe patching, light
carpentry, grounds-keeping, site and facilities cleanup, etc.), and work with F.S. archaeologists on site
stabilization and interpretive projects.
